Advanced wound care (chronic wounds, pressure ulcers also called pressure injuries, venous ulcers, arterial ulcers, in surgical wounds, complex wounds, traumatic wounds, burns, erosions and skin tears, neoplastic wounds and low prevalence such as Epidermolysis Bullosa...), a generally not very visible problem to which 5% of total health care spending in developed countries is attributed. Today it constitutes a significant challenge for health care organizations due to a large number of dynamic factors among which we can highlight:

• The growing aging of the population, the increase in health problems such as diabetes, obesity and cardiovascular diseases, chronicity, the emergence of new technologies and healthcare contexts, the economic pressures on health care, the need to increase quality of care, the need to enhance the culture of patient safety, the possibility of financial penalties and legal lawsuits, the growing pressure of ethics in care, the growing importance of institutional marketing for health institutions or the need for accreditations in quality.
• As in any other area of health care, there are a large number of opportunities to improve the prevention and treatment of wounds, and thereby contribute to optimizing advanced wound care, as well as increasing the quality of care and patient safety, and contribute to achieving Health Systems with maximum profitability from a cost/benefit/opportunity point of view. With the idea that these are sustainable from an economic and ethical point of view (equity) and that they meet the highest quality standards.
