From time to time, we like to share a sneak peek behind the scenes at The Patient Safety Company. That's why this time we conducted an interview with our Managing Director (and VP of International Operations), Rick Bergen! Interested in the tasks of the Managing Director at TPSC? Read on below!
Almost 10 years now.
Through the previous owner, a private equity company called Main Capital.
There have been many memorable moments during my time at TPSC. Amazing foreign trips to partners and clients, major software releases with important new features, and securing great clients, both large and small.
Lots of internal meetings about the day-to-day business, discussions with our American parent company symplr, and of course, conversations with partners, clients, prospects, and suppliers. Additionally, with my financial background, I always keep an eye on our financial position.
One of the biggest challenges was working through Covid, where everyone had to work from home. Another significant challenge is growing TPSC as a company. This not only involves revenue growth but also finding the right people, streamlining processes, and continuously improving our product.
With one of the consultants. It seems really enjoyable to translate customer needs into our software and, in doing so, make the customer’s life easier.
Small, flexible and innovative.
Personally, the sale of the company to the American software company symplr was a very special and exciting project, where we instantly went from being a small independent company to part of a large software company.
Constantly switching between the outside world (including clients, suppliers, and symplr) and our own organization.
I love traveling, sports, and enjoying the good life.
The best part is achieving big accomplishments with a small team.
I hope to be retired by then, haha. But in any case, I want to build a strong and healthy company that I can eventually leave behind with a good feeling.
It's very informal, where people have a lot of freedom (and therefore responsibility). I think this is very important in an organization of professionals and has a positive impact on the atmosphere and results.
That I’ve adopted my own vine at Wijndomein Bergen, which is within walking distance of our office. What could be better than having your own wine? ‘Rick Bergen serves wine from Wijndomein Bergen in Bergen.’
